The operational career of the A-26 "Invader" began in November 1944. Manufactured by Douglas Aircraft, the airplane flew tactical intruder missions in Korea and was deployed against the Viet Cong in South Vietnam. In the "C" models, a transparent bombardier nose replaced the gun nose to permit more accurate bombing from medium level altitudes.
