Hello

We have in Rio de Janeiro 3 Fokker aircrafts SS11 and SS12, year 1946 to sell.

Is there anyone interested, or someone that could give us information on current prices of ac like these?

Thanks

If the Bureau number of your TBM is 69459 I flew in it while it was assigned to FASRON77 Naples, Italy. It was then a TBM3R and was used for COD (carrier on board delivery)The last carrier landing I made in this aircraft was 1 march 1954. The pilot was Lt Kannheiser and the ship was the USS Midway. The last flight I made in the aircraft was a round trip to Malta with Lt Oddo. The plane captains accompanied the aircraft and operated the APS4 radar. We had 6 TBM3Rs and operated all over the Med carrying out Mail, Parts and people. We could carry 5 pax, stowing mail and cargo in specially fitted bombay containers. The TBM was a reliable aircraft sometimes plagued by mysterious hydraulic failures. The Wright R2600 was good for 600 hrs TBO but usually replaced earlier due to high oil consumption.

I was browsing the web looking for something about F84f's and happened upon your sight. I was at Eglin AFB in the Fighter test Squdron when we got the first F84F's. I went to Edwards AFB California with a flight of F84F's when we were having in flight engine failures at Eglin. I was on the crew of an F model that crashed on takeoff from Eglin killing Captain Galt. We stayed at Edwards about 3 months. This was about 1954. It was a good opportunity to see the X-1 and other exotic aircraft of that era. Shortly afterward I was transferred to Itazuke AFB Japan on earlier model F 84's whose mission was to carry atom bombs to the enemy if it became necessary. I never knew if the F model ever saw combat.

Being a student of WW2 [Dad was at DDay (Omaha Beach)] , I have become interested in the Forgoten War. I have just seen the connection from the end of WW2 to the beginnings of the Korean War. The Soviets will to dominate other countries even though she had gone through the same thing. It makes you think were the two powers Nazis & Communists all that different? I dont think so!

Indeed, what a thrill to find this website. Since this is the 50th anniversary of the Korean "Conflict", I'm sure there will be a lot of Korean veterans who will enjoy this museum. I want to bring my father out to see it one day. He was a Crew Chief for six F-84 fighter/bombers out of Kunsan,Korea (474th Fighter/Bomber Wing & the 430th Fighter/Bomber Squadron) during the war. I am thrilled to see our nation honoring these men of the "Forgotten War" during this 50th anniversary. God Bless American!

What a thrill to come across that Old J-3. The memories of cutting didos over corn fields and rivers of Southern Illinois with an occasinal pasture landing just for the fun of it. I hope there are J-3s in heaven just to chase angels with my old flying buddy! I will fly from the back seat. I will shoot some landings with you again. Meanwhile God Bless and thanks for memories. I visited your museum three times in the early 90's. And my wife twice. The first time Carl Wright took me there after we went flying in his airplane. Very neat museum. I enjoyed seeing everything. We took friends to see it when they came to visit us when we lived in El Paso and was on staff of two Baptist churches in E.P. Please give our regards to our dear friends ,Carl and Elsie Wright. We understand Carl is volunteering some time there now. These days here in Germany are days of many remerberances as they are remembering many of the things that happened here 55 + years ago. Best regards to all of you and keep up the good work. Bob and Sally Bade

Congratulations on your page. Aviation has always fascinated me since my youth.

During WWII I was living in Northeast Brazil - Recife where there were american air bases. My father worked for the U.S.E.D. as an interpreter-clerk and we lived near his work. I spent many hours watching the planes activities around.

Well, time has past and today I am a helicopter pilot already retired but still flying for the oil business people down here in Rio.

Thanks for the opportunity.

I have an item which I would like to see if there is interest in from someone here. My aunt was a 2nd Lt. in the Army/Air Force and ran the officer's mess on Oahu after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. She befriended all of the members of Squadron 214, the Black Sheep Squadron, including Col. Boyington. A young man there hand drew in ink the emblem which would become the official emblem used on the aircraft of the BSS. She requested that he save it for her, which he did and she had it framed and displayed for many years. When she passed away, she left it for me. It is in wonderful condition and I have much documentation of her time in the service via letters, clippings, pictures, etc...I would simply like to know if anyone is interested in an item such as this or knows how it might be authenticated. I am not attempting in any way to gain interest in it for profit. My only thought is that it may be an interesting piece of military aviation history.

I would like to submit a poem that I believe your web guests will appreciate. It was written in 1944 by my Father while stationed at Buckley Field Air Force Base, Aurora,Colorado while his cadre was waiting to be sent into the Pacific.

"TWILIGHT"

Silently squat the heavies.

Shrouded by drifting nocturnal mists

Inert Somnolent

Huge seventeens and twenty-fours

dwarfed by a majestic twenty-nine.

Hen and her brood.

But, stay! For they will shake

down the stars with their thunder

in the coming dawn.

...and hasten the Ragnarok*. -by Hartley Barry,1944

*Ragnarok- from "Twilight of the Gods"from Norse mythology about the final destruction of the world in conflict between the gods.
